JU Adds Men's and Women's Lacrosse! What do you think?

JU is announcing the addition of the first DI Women's and Men's program in Florida, and the first south of Duke. What does everyone think about this?

I think the addition of a lacrosse program in our great state is phenominal and I know UF is next to start their program but from all of the rumors they don't plan on doing much, if ANY, local recruiting which is pretty sad if you ask me, so that being said hopefully JU will look at some local talent as the level of local talent is definitely on the rise and nobody knows that better than Mindy herself after starting up the Lady Possums/LAX Maniax. Great job and congratulations to Mindy and Paul as they have worked tirelessly to improve the level of talent in the state of FL for the girl laxers.

I believe you are right, JU should definitely take advantage of the local talent they will be able to attract. However, I also believe you should recruit from the "lacrosse" states (MD, PA, NY, MA, VA, etc.) because those players have experience and talent, and the drive as well. Plus, it will be very attractive for a student from up north to come down to a place they know will be warm starting in February. But I think this will be a great program, and I hope to be apart of the start of this!

David, you're right on with your assessment, and I believe that will be the route the new coaches take. I wonder if any of the current club players will step up and be a part of the first team as well? They have some talented guys that could make the jump I think

Where are you from? I haven't played organized in awhile but this is an opportunity I want to take. I played football here so being athletic won't be a problem, I just have to get my stick skills up. I'll be on the club team this upcoming year, and hopefully I can make the jump to the varsity team in two years. I'm watching the lacrosse semi-finals right now and I'm excited about playing.

Hey, just to see if any of you guys are interested, the Ponte Vedra Predators are hosting a summer league starting next week. It runs every thursday night. If your interested let me know and ill give you directions to the fields. They would like players participating to be members of US Lacrosse just for the risk of injuries pretty much.
